This game is short and to the point, but effective in teaching basic concepts related to the cell's membrane.
This game would be very good to give students to introduce or reinforce content, but probably not as a stand alone. I liked how there were questions to check the player's understanding and how you get a score at the end.
Also, the player can fail at a mission, but has the chance to try again. Very simple to play and good instructions provided. Overall, this game provides a good visual of the cell membrane and provides a great way for students to see how a cell membrane functions. It presents the information needed to complete simulations in textbook-like windows, doesn't randomize the questions or the answers to quizzes, and overall doesn't do anything to engage players into caring about the information being taught.
It also has a couple glitches: the timer will count down before starting a simulation or not function at all, and the molecules sometimes won't go through the channels both active and passive transport channels due to sudden changes in going the opposite direction or appearing to bounce off the "rim" of the channel, which makes the levels somewhat frustrating.
While it is a very good visual representation of cell membrane function, the creator now needs to focus more on ways to entertain and keep players involved in learning, and then perhaps expand this so that it teaches about other topics, maybe the functions of other cellular components, or maybe the movement of molecules within the cell not just between the cell and the environment.

Allow students to respond and listen for identification of the points that make floating different from swimming. Before class, place a cup or beaker of water on each table. Begin the lesson by introducing the vocabulary associated with the lesson: equilibriumosmosis, diffusionhomeostasisactive transport, passive transport, hypertonic, hypotonic, isotonicexocytosis, endocytosis, cell membrane, selective permeability, turgor pressure, sodium potassium pump, concentration gradient, dynamic equilibrium.
